Gospel of Mark 5:1-20

This Sunday, we will look at a very strange text: Mark 5:1-20. Keep in mind that Mark writes:

1) Theologically, he wants to teach us about God revealed in Jesus.

2) Historically, he wants to tell us what happened.

3) Thematically, he organizes his gospel around certain themes like suffering, insider/outsider dynamics, and spiritual darkness. 

All of Mark’s major themes collide in Mark 5. We will discuss how Mark 5 inspires our discipleship here and now.
