Gospel of Mark 5:21-43

Last Sunday, we discussed Jesus’s power over spiritual affliction in Mark 5:1-20. To some degree, each of us experiences spiritual affliction, and for all the complexity of our human condition, the solution is clear and simple: draw near to Jesus. This week, we see Jesus’s power displayed over sickness and death, but there is much more to the story than physical healing. We are given one of the most beautiful and compelling accounts of discipleship. One question to consider: "How do the disasters and distresses we face impact how we follow Jesus?"
